We're Off...

Even though my best friend in all the world has no faith that I will post again (see Letterknit's comments), here I am! Mom and I leave tomorrow from our origin destinations - Milwaukee and Louisville - we'll meet in Chicago and fly directly to Rome. In what might be a sign of the coming Apocalypse, I think Mom will actually end up having far less luggage than I. I better go through my bag again...

See you in Italy.

Have fun.

I remember reading of Twain's travels in Italy. He and a buddy would continually torture the tour guides by acting dumbfounded with every famous statue or painting they were shown, always asking at the end, "is he dead?" The guide always acted polite until they pulled it at the statue of Christopher Columbus, whom was certain they knew. "Cristo Columbo! Deescover America!" He shouted, much to Twain's delight.

Enjoy the trip! Please keep the blogs coming. Take care of mom and have fun. Tell the Roberto Benigni I say hello... but do not stand too close to him, he is unpredictable and might injury you in a fit of improvisation.

John, I had a similar experience touring the Frank Lloyd Wright House at Kentuck Knob (near Fallingwater) a few weeks ago. Another person on the tour asked "Why are the ceilings so low???" and continued to comment how he could NEVER live in a place like this. Unfortunately, he wasn't kidding. Quite a crowd in rural Pennsylvania!
